A General's Duty

This track introduces the "Duty Calls" theme as a whistled melody. It's well established in the documentary that Frank didn't take his guarding lightly; to him it was a crucial duty that he never neglected even when he was sick or tired. In keeping with Frank's military persona and nickname, the snare drum and whistling is meant to evoke the marching of troops not unlike "Colonel Bogey's March". The rich choral textures represent the way Frank's community surrounded, supported and appreciated his dedication to the children of Bridgeport. Likewise, the liturgical sound of a pipe organ represents the solemnity of his duty and his sense that acting as crossing guard was serving a higher purpose beyond his own comfort or needs. This mix made specifically for the soundtrack is assembled from pieces that were used thematically throughout the movie.
