This five-note motif in the piano was used throughout the film in a variety of ways, and here it is presented in its canonical form. To that, a broken bagpipe wails the theme from "Hope is Lost", morphing into the pipe organ symbolizing the solemnity of his passing - but here the organ is presented without any choral backup.
